I am really getting into using merchant datafeeds to promote affiliate programs and I am having fun (and learning alot) working with them. With a little knowledge of PHP and mySQL it is very easy to just drop a merchants complete product catalog into any site.
Recently I redesigned my site VABiker.com using datafeeds from RideGear.com and DiscoveryChannelStore.com , and Amazon.com Web Services.
This site originally was just a banner farm that I had a few of my best performing programs but I was not really sending a lot of traffic to the site, nor was I trying to promote the site. When I was contacted by RideGear.com about possible using their datafeed I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to learn a bit more about feeds and update the site with a complete new look. The site is written completely in PHP and I am using .htaccess to rewrite to .html extensions (this helps out alot with search engine spidering).
These datafeeds are available from Commission Junction (cj.com)
After joining Commission Junction as an affiliate there is a one time fee to set up the datafeed delivery service. The fee is a little high - but just in the few weeks since I redesigned the site I have more than made it up in affiliate sales commissions. (Commission Junction offers traditional banner and text links for merchant programs at no charge - the set up fee is only for the datafeed delivery)
The site now offers the complete RideGear.com product catalog and also videos and such from the DiscoveryChannelStore.com showcasing there motorcycle building shows like American Chopper, Motorcycle Mania, and The Great Biker Build-Off.
To date the highest performing products have been the videos from the DiscoveryChannelStore.com.
The datafeed was very easy to incorporate into the site and with just a few tweeks to the scripts that I use on 4 Fun Sex Toys and Lingerie-Review.com I was able to integrate both product catalogs into the site.
I am also using a script that I wrote to pull products from Amazon.com Web Services to create an online book store that is also preforming well.
I have really high expectations for this site and so far it looks like it is going to give it a good go.
Virginia Biker Online Motorcycle Shopping Online catalog with the best prices you will find anywhere on motorcycle parts, apparel, helmets, and accessories for street, and dirt as well as casual apparel, atv parts, and snowmobile parts, accessories and apparel from the powersport industry's top manufacturers.
For some more info on how I use datafeeds on my sites check out my article: Using Merchant CSV Datafeeds.
Very soon I am planning a complete redo of CustomMotorcycleBuilding.com. I will be using datafeeds and some new merchants that are offering some really top of the line custom motorcycle parts and apparel. So stay tuned for that.
If you have a website and you are looking for affiliate programs to promote I highly recommend joining Commission Junction (cj.com). CJ gives you access thousands of quality, high paying, and great converting affiliate programs.
